Concept Note:
Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, was a visionary leader, social reformer, economist, and jurist who dedicated his life to the pursuit of social justice, equality, and human rights for the millions of people in marginalized communities. Ambedkar relentlessly fought against the deeply entrenched caste system, advocating for a society based on the principles of “liberty, equality, and fraternity.” His work through drafting the Constitution enshrined fundamental rights and outlawed untouchability, providing the legal foundation for a more equitable society. As the Chairman of the Drafting Committee, Ambedkar designed a democratic framework aimed at ensuring social democracy, not just political democracy. He stressed the importance of constitutional morality, the rule of law, and the protection of minority rights as essential components of a functioning democracy. He viewed education as a crucial tool for liberation and social mobility, particularly for marginalized communities. His enduring call of “Educate, Agitate, Organise” remains a guiding principle for social movements and grassroots activism focused on empowerment. Ambedkar was also an accomplished economist. He wrote extensively on public finance, agricultural economics, and the issues of the rupee, contributing significantly to India’s economic thinking and institutional frameworks, such as the Reserve Bank of India. Ambedkar’s footprints signify the evolution of true development from the past to the present, and they will forge a stronger, more developed future way for India. His birth anniversary on 14th April is an opportune moment to reflect on his enduring legacy and the continued relevance of his philosophy in contemporary society. Therefore the broader objective of this proposed national level conference will deliberate Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and his philosophical thought in development. We strongly hope that the conference will be a platform for the development of all types of societies.
