Jadavpur University Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Teachers’ And Officers’ Association is registered under Registration of Societies, Government of West Bengal Act XXVI of 1961.

‘The Association aims to ensure social justice and socio-economic developments for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Communities.’
MISSION
A) Advocacy and Policy Reform –
Advocating the policies to protect the rights and promote welfare of Jadavpur University Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Communities
B) Legal Support – Providing appropriate moral and legal assistance to the University Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Communities
C) Awareness – Raising awareness and sensitization to promote inclusivity and respect for diversity.
OBJECTIVES
- Advocacy for civil rights and action against caste-ethnicity based atrocities towards SC/ST employees
- Conducting outreach program for awareness on reservation facilities, grievance redressal and action against different types of violations
- Looking after the implementation of reservation and service safeguard policy for and conducting awareness programs in the field of reservation policy for employees
- spreading information about changing issues of rules and regulations and relevant act related to reservation policy
- Promotion of political consciousness and cultural awareness of the SC/ST employees through seminars, workshops and debate programmes
- Keeping communication with the National Commission of Scheduled Castes and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes for updating of knowledge
- Facilitating knowledge exchange programs with other organizations on different issues, conducting round table meetings
- Establishment and running of a Research and Development Centre by the members for the enrichment of SC/ST employees with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive
- Publication of books, journals or seminar proceedings; Sending project proposals to Government agencies and Non-Government agencies with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive.
- Promotion of the knowledge of science and technology through programmes with youth with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive
- Strengthening the youth of the society through various cultural activities like drama, creative writing, song, debate, painting, etc. at different institutions
- Taking initiatives for abolishing practices like untouchability, atrocities, superstitions, etc., for cultural assimilation
- Promoting awareness programmes on agriculture, cultivation, and fishing for SC/ST Societies
- Encouraging awareness on health, hygiene, education, professional health hazards, and psychological conditions among the SC/ST population of rural, slum and urban areas through necessary outreach programmes
- Distributing free medicines and relief among the needy people especially in remote areas during untoward situations
- Assistance towards affected SC/ST students due to natural calamities or unforeseen hazards
